I think Romney will get the GOP nomination. Palin will win the west. The south will be split by Huckabee, and Gingrich, and Pawlenty will try the north (he may drop out before winning anything) Romney will get the north, and some in the west like California, and Nevada. So Romney will be the nominee. He will probaly choose someone who is less mormon, like Huckabee, Gingrich, Sen. DeMint, or Gov. Perry. I think he will win in 2012, and beat Obama and Biden. I will still vote Obama Biden 2012.
It’s a bit too soon to tell, but I wouldn’t be looking at any of the big names we’re hearing now – they tend to be from the more conservative end of the party, and you need a more moderate candidate to win independent voters. The ones who I think would have a chance are Mitch Daniels (Governor of Indiana) and Charlie Crist (Governor of Florida and ‘10 Senate candidate), because neither one has yet started alienating moderates by blindly pandering to the conservatives.
In all honestly it would take someone who has not been tainted with the current problems of the Republican Party. Someone fresh, YOUNG and with real new ideas for the problems of the USA.
In other words someone who is not a current Republican but willing to buck the Problems the Republicans bring to the table.

I think Palin is the best bet. The winning candidate needs to espouse conservative principles, rather than be afraid of them.
