That lie was invented in the late 1980s and picked up by the charlatans who are pushing the Big 2012 Hoax.

If most people are “aware” of this supposed cosmic catastrophe on a certain date, I will short sell as much stock a I can afford early in the year, then buy it all back the day before the specified date.

According to the Mayan calendar the end of the Earth will not occur.
