In the Mayan calendar, December 21, 2012 is a significant date. I have done extensive research, but I want to know what others think will happen.

In terms of the Mayan calender/ planet X and so on…absolutely nothing.
My plans…to double over with laughter at the idiots at the history channel and the hoax propagators who are left with all those unsold books and useless schlocumentaries.
If you’ve donw “extensive” research then you know that the Mayans didn’t predict the end of the world or disasters. They just didn’t extend their calendar past 2012. And you would know that the Mayan civilization has been gone for 600 years, though many descendants still live in Central America.
And you would know that fortunetelling and future-forecasting doesn’t work very well with the stock market, but it’s a total disaster at predicting future disasters. To my knowledge (also pretty extensive), there has NEVER been ONE documented UNAMBIGUOUS prediction of the future by anyone at any time.
As for what the Mayans “said” or “predicted”, who cares? Who died and made them masters of the universe? If they were so good at futurcasting, they’d have avoided the mistakes that led to their downfall and maybe they’d still be running things in Central America. Or maybe they’d have headed to Europe and taken over before the Spanish got to the remains of their civilization.
As for what I’m doing to prepare for 2012? Nothing that I wouldn’t be doing even if I had a guarantee of living that long.
I’m planning for tomorrow and I’m planning for 2061 (when I hope to see Halley’s Comet for the second time).
In the Mayan calendar (the one used by the Mayans… when they were still around), the date that we call December 21, 2012 is New Year’s Day for that year. They always celebrate the New Year on the day of December solstice (although, of course, they did not call it December).
The Meso-American “Long-Count” calendar is a day-count calendar that works the same as our Julian Day calendar.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_day
In that calendar, the next Long Count begins on that date.
Also on that date, the position of the solstice is closest to the Galactic equator. Not a coincidence, of course, since the duration of each Long Counts was made as close as possible (in their system’s round figures) to 1/5 of the precession period, and this one was fixed so that it would end when the solstice position was to be in the thickest portion of the Milky Way.
I know that none of the doomsday “prophecies” are real (some of them are simply impossible, while others can be traced to intentional and modern creations of “ancient legends”).
However, I also know that some people will think that it is their god-given duty to help along with Armageddon. Just as it was for Y2k (the passage to the year 2000), some people will try to cause damage, some because they are religious lunatics made crazy by the idea of the “end-of-the-world”, other because… they like to cause damage, whatever the reason.
That is what I will prepare for.
This is also why I do not consider as “innocent” those who continue to perpetuate the Big 2012 Hoax Off. Their false predictions (sometimes for the selfish end of selling more books and videos) can only add to the problem.

If I remember right, their calendar simply stops on 12.21.2012 as if the world does not continue following this exact date. It is somewhat eerie to ponder this since the Mayan calender fairly accurately predicted very significant world events such as the world wars and, I believe, 9/11. The way I look at it, whether the apocalypse will occur on this day or not, there is nothing I will be able to do about it. Therefore, I will continue to live my life the way I see fit and follow my personal system of beliefs and religion. I think everyone should do the same. Very interesting topic, but it’s one of those things where “fate” might hold true.
If you had done extensive research, you would find that of thousands of predictions of the end of the world, none have actually happened, and in all cases the fools who believed such idiocy have come out with ostrich egg all over their faces.

Be serious. If you had done extensive research you wouldn’t have posted a 2012 question QED. You are not a Maya. If the Mayans were on the ball they would have defeated the Spanish. They didn’t. If an entire nation cannot defeat a couple hundred iron encrusted thugs, I wouldn’t be too impressed by their fortune telling capabilities. Nothing is going to happen. There is nothing to prepare for.
I’m not doing anything special. The year will come and go, with the Olympics and the last Venus transit of this century.
If something will happen and we’d all die, no preparations will save you. But I don’t believe it will come to an apocalypse. The Mayans held this year as one of spiritual enlightenment, which is something the world is in need of.
I got two books on 2012 XD One is how to survive it, the other is just about it. The guy who wrote it didn’t even beleive it would happen. I’m going to wait three years and if we see any really big signs that it’ll happen then that would suck and something will happen XD Apparently the Drakensburg Mountain Range is the safest place that they’ve discovered so far. So if it actually happens and there’re tidal waves the size of doom and volcanoes blow and all that evil stuff. I’m going there XD unless there are no signs of it happening of course >.>
I’m not doing anything about it, But from what I’ve heard the worlds governments are going to have their hands full. WHat I’ve “heard” is that we are going to have another mass slaughtering such as the one theat happened to the jews around WWII. I don’t know how selection will go, but that is what I heard. I too have read some sources online, not extensive research by any means, and have come to a conclusion that I am comfortable with right now. It may, and will possibly, change.
2012 will mark the end of religion. Numerous religions prophesied 2012 to be “the end” because that’s when their doctrine ceases to be recognized as feasible.
I’m not sure what actual event will take place, but it will involve some great enlightenment where we learn something so fundamental that it will change our very existence. Maybe it will be an event that will show us how the universe was created, so the faith held in creation stories is erased. Or the New World Order will supply us with answers and humanity will be united as one.
Either way, I do not believe that a cataclysmic event will take place that wipes out any trace of humankind. How do I know this? It’s a gut feeling. I think if we ask ourselves if we truly believe it will all end 12/21/2012, we will know the answer and feel the improbability of that occurring. I think we all already have some of the answers.
Global warming and other such concerns are not a sign that the earth is dying. They are simply symptoms that will eventually lead to this great awakening. Earth is tense now and something’s gotta give.
In the end (no pun intended), I’m excited for 12/21/2012. I do not feel nor believe that it is the end for us. I’m looking forward to finally becoming enlightened and transcending what we’ve come to know as reality.
But the fact that 12/21/2012 is 666 days after 6/6/06 is highly intriguing.
nothing will happen. the world will not end until all of us are already dead anyway. It will end in about 5 billion years. so unless you can live to be 5 billion years old. you won’t see the world end. and if something does happen jesus and god will be there to guide us, they will protect us. so dont be scared live life to the fullest and make a difference in the world.
I’m going to buy 100 cans of Spam, and 50 cans of pork & beans and enough medical supplies to last a year….No…probably not. I’ll probably do the same $hit I uaually do, go to work, come home, clean up my house, whatever. It’s good to have emergency supplies for whatever disaster may strike but people get too carried away with this doomsday crap! People freaked out with Y2K also and the worst thing that happened was a few people dating their checkbook wrong…big deal…I think NOTHING will happen. Don’t worry about 2012. On Dec 21, 2012 whatever God wants will occur. Jesus himself said you know not the time or the hour of the end only God knows (in a nutshell). Why are we listening to bunch of dead indians anyway? We ourselves and God control our future. Forget about Nostradamus and physics and History Channel programs and just live your life. So I’m doing asolutely nothing to for 2012.

The year 2012 is rumored to be the end of the world. But do not worry. Do not be scared. I assure you that the world will not end on 2012 December 21 but it will end one day. Remember that if there is a beginning, there is an end.
What I am doing to prepare for 2012? I know that the world will not end in 2012 but always, I am prepared to meet my Creator. He may recall me tomorrow, next month, in 2012, or whenever. This is my survival kit for I know that my soul will live forever whereas my body will return to the soil where it came from one day. I want to be with my Maker in His heavenly kingdom and spend eternity there.
Nostradamus’ prophecy of when the world will end is far into the future, past about 3700. This is in agreement with what I heard and learned from the Holy Spirit—that there will only be about 144,000 around AD 2200, peace reigns for a thousand years till around AD 3200, and then Satan will be released to test the descendants of the elect for about 500 years. After that, the end will come.
The Mayan’s Mesoamerican Long Count calendar forms the basis for a New Age belief, first forecast by Jose Arguelles, that a cataclysm will take place on or about 2012 December 21 (Wikipedia). Mainstream Mayan scholars consider “cataclysm” or “apocalypse” as a misinterpretation for to the Mayan scribes, it literally means uncovering or revealing.
The Long Count has 360 days in a year called “Tun”. A “Tun” has 18 months or “unials” and each “unial” has 20 days. Twenty (20) Tuns is a Katun and 20 Katuns is a Baktun (144,000 days or about 400 solar years). Thirteen (13) Baktuns is a “Great Cycle” of 1,872,000 days (5,200 Tuns or about 5,125 solar years). In the book of Revelation, it tells us about a period of a thousand years of peace. Has this occurred already since the time of Jesus? Not yet. That will still come. Those that give predictions of the world’s end, such as 2012 and numerous times during the past, are pseudo-preachers. Have they talked to God directly? If so, give proofs.
But there is something that will certainly happen—and that is our physical death. This is what we should prepare for. It may come when least expected. We do not know the day and the hour. It will come like a thief in the night. So we just have to be prepared all the time. Search for the true God and when we find Him, follow His commandments and remain in Him until our last dying breath.
This is all that we have to do. It is faith in the true God that we can take with us when we depart from this world. The Holy Spirit also told us that beings from another planet will take only the marked good people out of this world. I asked Him if it’s a million. He said much less than that. Then I asked if the number is the one mentioned in Revelation and He affirmed it. A few weeks ago this year, 2008, as I was reading Revelation, I came across Revelation 14:3 to wit (King James Version): “And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.” “Redeemed from the earth” means saved from the earth. And there were 144,000 of them. This must be what the Holy Spirit was referring to several years ago. His advice to all: leave their wicked way of life and change their way of thinking. We should come back to the true God before it’s too late. (I read in Isaiah 55:7 this message, to wit (KJV): “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”) Be good then so that we may be considered to be among the 144,000 who will be saved, and later will restart and repopulate this world. The Holy Spirit told us to tell people about this prophecy even though they accuse us as being out of our minds. He assured us that this will happen, similar to Noah’s prophecy of the Great Flood which took a hundred years before it was fulfilled. The vessel that Noah used to be saved was an ark. This time, another kind of vesssel will be used to save the elect.
What is also certain to happen very soon (in about 2012 or earlier) is World War III and this is a nuclear war. This “calamitous war” (as Nostradamus called it) will start from the Philippines, at Spratly Islands in particular. The Spratly Islands lie on the southeast part of the South China Sea mostly near the coast of the Philippines. The Holy Spirit told us that the Philippines is the wick of a gas lamp. Once the wick is lit, it will be on and aglow. He told us about this prophecy about two decades ago. He said that the troubles in the Philippines will spread to the whole world until mankind is almost annihilated and a few will remain. Spratly Islands are being claimed wholly by China, Taiwan and Vietnam; and partly by Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines. The area is considered a tinderbox, a flash point. It is very rich in oil and gas resources, more than the reserve of Kuwait. The high price of oil may trigger the grabbing of these islands and start the war.
Four independent prophecies point to the certainty that this will happen. After the calamitous war, we will have a new age, a spiritual awakening or enlightenment, and peace will reign for a long time. The population would have been reduced by a third and there will be much arable land that will be available. People will be living in planned cities and communities. Would you like to live in a city where the land is free and you are guaranteed possession of the land for 50 years, renewable, and which you can bequeath to an heir?
The Holy Spirit has given His prophecies and these are what will happen. Be rest assured then that the world will not end yet. But please, heed what He advises us to do—to change our wicked way of life and change our wrong beliefs. Come back to the true God.

2012 is just the revealing of the ‘antichrist’ at the middle of what Jews and Christians call the 7 year Tribulation.
