Ive decided to become vegetarian, but i want the ideal “buff” body look, what vegetables will help build body?

vegetarian

Im young, and i started this 48 day vegetarian thing (for religious reasons) and i’ve decided to stay vegetarian forever. Limiting my animal products to milk, what vegetables can help me gain body mass. I want to be able to gain weight, and work out untill it becomes toned muscles.

I goto a gym, and a dude thats HUGE told me that he’s a strict carnivore, all he eats is meat, and thats his secret for his giant muscles. What vegetables give protein, and make you fatter/larger?

Please help!

There are no specific vegetalbes that are high in protein, which would buff up your body. Just make sure to eat them with other sources of protein, such as beans and legumes. These form “complementary protein combinations.” Examples would be bean tacos, chili with cornbread, beans and rice, peanut butter sandwiches, hummus with chips, split pea soup with crackers, or noodles with sesame seeds.

  2. Foods that are high in protein include tofu, other legumes, nuts and seitan. Vegetables alone won’t provide enough.

That dude may be huge, but who knows how long he’ll live on a carnivorous diet? It’s very unhealthy.

  3. Vegetarian Foods Protein (g)

    Soybeans, dry (2oz) 18g
    Peanuts, fresh (2oz) 13g
    Black-eyed beans, dry (2oz) 12g
    Lentils, dry (2oz) 12g
Red kidney beans, dry (2oz) 11g
    Cashew nuts (2oz) 8.9g
    Baked potato (7oz) 8.7g
    Tofu (3.5oz) 8g

notice that very small servings (2oz) offer a lot of protein.

In comparison, milk only has 2g of protein for a 2oz serving.

  4. Unfortunalty the lack of protien in your diet is going to be counter productive. I would suggest that you look into protien shakes

  5. Do not believe the Protein nonsense. Plant based protein is far Superior to meat protein anyways. Where do you think animals get their protein from. Protein is a term “brainwashed” into the public since Kinder garden. It is promoted by the Meat and Dairy Industry in order to sell their product. It’s big, very unhealthy business. Do your research about protein before opening your flappers people!
By the way, red meat, meat, chicken is proven to cause cancer in humans…Plants prevent it. The choice is yours

    Are you the next hero?

  6. You definitely will not build muscle mass with a vegetarian diet unless you are genetically predisposed re: body type. Cardio and weight training workouts and a balanced diet with beaucoup protein to include meat and a full range of nutrients will do so.

Otherwise you will have to “bulk” up on all kinds of supplements and massive amounts of plant life to make up for the deficiency in the veggie head diets. You might want to Google “Flexitarian Diets” and take a look at that.

Eat a well-balanced moderate diet which would include very minimal amounts of RED meat … maybe 4 oz. per week if you have a rigorous cardio and weight training program. You can supplement with “white” meat, mainly fish I find works well. I don’t think massive amounts of meat are necessary or are healthy. But you will need a lot of protein to build mass. A good rule of thumb … at least I found for my program . . . is only 20% of my total diet is devoted to meat and that is mostly fish or seafood.

Google “Flexitarian Diet”. Follow the suggestions on the websites you find and you will build muscle fast and still be nutritionally healthy.

  8. There are plenty of high protein vegetarian foods.

    High protein foods include:
soy milk, tofu, nuts(Almonds, Cashews, Filberts, Hemp Seeds, Peanuts, Pumpkin seeds, Sesame seeds, Sunflower seeds, Walnuts (black)), seeds, legumes(Garbanzo beans, Kidney beans, Lentils, Lima beans, Navy beans, Soybeans, Split peas), grains(Barley, Brown rice, Buckwheat, Millet, Oatmeal, Rye, Wheat germ, Wheat, hard red, Wild rice), vegetables(Artichokes, Beets, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Green peas, Green pepper, Kale, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Mustard green, Onions, Potatoes, Spinach, Tomatoes, Turnip greens, Watercress, Yams, Zucchini), fruits(Apple, Banana, Cantaloupe, Grape, Grapefruit, Honeydew melon, Orange, Papaya, Peach, Pear, Pineapple, Strawberry)

Good luck, don’t let people try and scare you away from being a vegetarian. It is great for your body and health. Most people that will tell you otherwise have done little to no research on being vegetarian and can’t see their own diet without meat so they push their own fears and false knowlege on people looking to become a vegetarian

  9. Im pretty much doing the same thing.

it depends, if you want to be toned and defined then eating heaps of nuts, seeds, legumes and beans will be more than enough. chic peas and lentils are particularly good.

Ive been doing this for about 6 months now with a strength building program and cycling to work.

I have continued to put on muscle, gain tone and have slimmed further down as well.

there is protein in everything we eat in varying in amounts. vegetables and grains all have protein, nuts seeds and legumes just contain more.

its in the exercise that all the work is done.

if you look at this site:

youll see some vegan body builders.

if you actually want to go passed being defined and tonned and look like the guys on that site then it will probably be easier to see results with a protein powder.

ive ordered myself a hemp seed protein powder and im going to give that a go and see how it works. i would rather use this than a soy based one because you never know whats in a lot of the soy ones, they can be genetically modified, processed, filled out with sugars and contain all sorts of nasty stuff.

protein powders are hard on your liver and your kidneys, just like the excessive protein in meat is. so im going to be eating more beetroot and carrots, and ill probably get juice of that wheverever i can.

You might research what other people like Andreas Cahling or Bill Pearl do. Although I would eat a lot of nuts as snacks to get protein and fats.

There are veg foods that stimulate growth: Watermelon, Bananas and green veggies.

    I’m another proponant of
I spend alot of time there. I’ve learned that it’s not how much protein you get(the amount bodybuilders need, most people get without trying). It’s about the workout. There’s a ripped guy on that site that only eats fruit and nuts; he reminds people in his sig to stop fussing over protein and “shud up and train”.

That gym guy’s diet secret made me laugh out loud. I’ll bet he’s huge, but it’s not all muscle. He’s retaining water and toxins….and storing the exess protien, but not as muscle.

But if you’re sure you want the buff american look, eat alot of grain, nuts, oil, avocado.

Everybody’s different when it comes to gaining muscle. So find your own way.
