I Am Now Starting To Get Paranoid About This Whole 2012 Thing?

I just thought to myself that I graduate high school in 2011 and supposedly the world is supposed to end in 2012. I would not have ever graduated college or get the job in life that I really wanted. How true is this 2012 thing?

Totally bogus. Not true at all. The “2012 doomsday” is a hoax. It’s a fraud. It’s a con job. It’s a cruel and cynical lie being promoted by unscrupulous pseudo-scientific cranks who have a monetary interest: They want to sell their books, videos, ’survival kits’, and spaces in non-existent shelters in Antarctica, and to divert attention from the fact that they have been wrong so many times before. It’s also being pushed by people who are promoting a Hollywood disaster movie due out later this year.
All of the claims of ‘predictions’ by the Maya, the Aztecs, the Incas, the Hopi, the Chinese (I Ching), Nostradamus, Sir Isaac Newton, Edgar Cayce, “Mother Shipton” are false: They did not make the claimed predictions. Predictions by others such as José Argüelles, Terrence McKenna, Nancy Leider, Mark Hazelwood and others are contrived pseudo-scientific nonsense.
There will be no ‘pole shift’, either geographic or magnetic. There will be no ‘killer solar flares’. There is no ‘Photon Belt’. These events are fiction. There will be no ‘galactic alignment’ or ‘planetary alignment’ of any kind, and we will not pass through the central plane of the galaxy, and even if these events were to occur, they would not cause any problems for us.
There is no “Planet X” or Nibiru. If someone claims that this object exists, then many regulars in this forum have been asking for the RA/Dec coordinates for it. If they can provide those coordinates and allow independent verification of its existence, then they can collect $5,000 from http://nibiruchallenge.blogspot.com.
As far as what is *really* going to happen:
    Olympic games in London
    Leap Year
    U.S. Presidential election
Transit of Venus on June 6th
Disclaimer: Due to the number of 2012/Nibiru/Planet X questions on Yahoo! Answers, this is a cut-and-paste answer. If this answer disappears, it is because it was falsely reported as ‘inappropriate’, because some people on this forum do not want you to see the links below.

The world has existed for over four billion years. Is it reasonable to expect that it will come to an end in less than four years? And all because of a Mayan calendar? Use some common sense.
The most interesting astronomical events in 2012 will be an annular eclipse of the Sun on 2012 May 20, a total eclipse of the Sun on 2012 Nov 13, and a transit of the planet Venus across the face of the Sun on 2012 Jun 06.
Scientists don’t expect anything out of the ordinary to happen in the year 2012, or specifically on the date December 21, except for the solstice, which happens every year.
None of the “predicted” happenings for 2012 hold up under close scrutiny. “Planet X” and “Nibiru” simply don’t exist. The Mayan calendar ends a cycle, but there were no predictions of the end of the world. The Sun doesn’t line up with the galactic centre; it’s 6 degrees off. No asteroids or comets are actually predicted to hit Earth.
All of this stuff was put together by crackpots in order to promote their books and TV shows, and shamelessly promoted by the History Channel. Don’t take any of it seriously!

We will be invaded by aliens in the year 2012.
My reasoning: The Aztecs predicted that the god Quetzalcoatl will arrive in the year 1519. Coincidentally in that year (or is it a coincidence?), Hernando Cortes arrived and destroyed the Aztecs.
The Mayans predicted that the world will end in the year 2012. Therefore something must be invading us. That something are the aliens.

  4. kueldude

Hey , My father is a christian preacher. People say that a “evil god” will emerge. The world will end , it a load of balony. Trust me , there is only one god and his name is Jahova (christain god). There isnt no way in the world the world will end right now. And there is no “evil god” going to kill us. The real god won’t allow that. The only reason they say December 21, 2012 is when the world will end is because the mayan people who worshiped a totally fake god never continued the calander. This has happend in the past. Here are some other dates that was expected just like 2012 , nothing happended.
    January 19, 1976
    June 2, 1901
    March 30. 1845
    June 22, 1726
And so on , even years Before Christ! (B.C.)
Now lets give a round of applause to the new year they say is going to be just like 2012 ,
    2089!
Don’t be paranoid will foolish fake stuff like this. Be prepared with god , just don’t worry. The world will not end.

I have asked myself the same questiion many times. I do not believe that the world will end. I talked to my mom about this and she said that the world isnt gonna end. She says that this prediction that the world is gonna end has hapeneed many times. Like the day before i was born people killed themselves because they thought the end of the world was ganna happen on my birthdate

  6. poldi

Perhaps, instead of panicking about something you should research it for yourself.
If it was true, it would be all over the news, the Internet, magazines, Oprah, Dr. Phil, everywhere.
But do you see headlines on MSNBC or CNN about it?
No, because there is absolutely no scientific evidence of ANY kind to support even one of the ridiculous claims being made.
Time to do some reading and learn the truth.

  7. Chick-A- Deedle

Actually the Mayans aren’t the only ones with a Doomsday 2012 warning.
If you’re that scared, take of the theory of the Ascensionists…they say we’re going to “morph” into a different form and elevate ourselves to a higher frequency in 2012.
I’m quite the tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist but even *I* don’t buy the 2012 destruction of everything! I simply think the rest of the calendars were smashed with everything else when the Spaniards crashed through Mesoamerica and annihilated the native population there…there were probably several more stelas that we will never ever see because of their brutal campaign to stifle paganism all over the world and introduce Catholicism.
Here, watch a bunch of these and distract it out of your system…the Unified Theory one is outstanding! There’s a few all with different 2012 theories…find one you’re comfortable with and go on happy with your life.http://www.kokomotion.com/TWH/docs/libra…

i am in the same boat as you. I too am supposed to graduate in 2011. It makes me nervous as well. Ive watched every single show on the histroy channel about this said event. But I personally am a God fearing person and believe that this world will end when God says it will. I you recall people also specualted that the world would end in 2000. Newsflash: We’re still here.

  9. Lacey

i graduate in 2013 so that sucks.
they always say the world is coming to an end but how an it really?
it hasnt yet when they have said it i dont think it will happen in your lifetime. but then again, the way people treat the earth are unforgivable and idiotic. who knows…. i guss we’ll see

  10. bikenbee

The Mayan Long Count calendar clicks over from 12.19.19.17.19 to 13.0.0.0.0 on 21st December 2012. That’s all there is to it. The Mayans themselves never predicted the end of the world would happen at that time.
All the doomsday predictions attached to this date are, without exception, unscientific nonsense, perpetrated by frauds and hoaxers.

  11. imacatho

    Probably not at all.
One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world.
These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.
Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.
“But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.” (Mark 13:32-33)
Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.
The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.
The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus’ advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.
Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

  12. Nadia

    NOT TRUE.
Nothing is going to happen. People think the world is going to be open because the calenders are going to change. So people have gone retarded and not noticed what scientists mean. It means that the calender is just going to change to a different mode. Hope that helps.

  13. greengaw

it’s not…just part of the arrogance that infests our current generation…we believe we have the ability to know things at a time where our wisdom is at an all time low. trust in God and you won’t worry about your future because you’ll realize that you have very little control anyway.

  14. Neon Body Style

I’m hoping that its complete BS, since I graduate in 2012 and would be into my first semester of college, so yeah it would really suck for the world to end at that point.

  15. Isabelle Chelsi

It isn’t. Relax. Live in the present and live life the best you can.
:p the world was supposed to end on 06.06.2006 too. Don’t believe date legends.

  16. Kay

I don’t really think there is much truth to it. There’s really no way of knowing what time the world is coming to an end, so I wouldn’t worry too much if I were you.

  17. Stan

don’t be, there is no evidence whatsoever suggesting that the world win end.

  18. Tina L

paranoid about what? mass gullibility? gross stupidity?
    it’s complete and utter nonsense.

  19. thorkonn

Don’t read only the retarded doomsday sites…

  20. mike hawk

its about as true as you make it..
    remember y2k?

  21. arglebar

Why does it matter if it is? You will just spend the next 3 years freaking out. Fun!

Winter solstice- December 21, 2012 – is just the revealing of the ‘antichrist’ or the ‘man of perdition’ at the mid-point of what Christians call the 7 year Tribulation (just subtract 1260 days to get the start and add 1260 days to get the end). Satanists and many pagan cultures from every corner of the world all throughout history have celebrated this like the Sumerians, Babylonians, Cherokee, Hopi, Chinese I-Ching (confirmed by Terence McKenna), Mayans (Pacal Votan; Chilam Balam of Tizimin, Mani, Chumayel; Jaguar Prophet), Egyptians, Celts, etc. This evil event is called “the abomination that causes desolation” that will be set up in the Jewish Temple’s Holy of Holies when the antichrist is imbued with the spirit of satan himself. When will Jesus come? Only God Himself knows exactly, but very soon in “the twinkling of an eye” and like “a thief in the night”. If you believe or not, that is up to you; either way it still comes.
Things to look for to PROVE it to yourself soon:
    >Fall of America as an economic power and other ways. The buying up and consolidation of powerful banks and corporations by the government in a pretend “bail out” power grab to kill the U.S. dollar and bring in a one world currency.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfHWzmvYM…

Christians look forward to this as it means they will soon join their Saviour & Redeemer in the Millennial Kingdom of the next Age and their Heavenly Father later as “Children of Light”. If you try to equate 2012 with Y2K or some other date that cried wolf, then you will be making the worst mistake of your lifetime. Research all these things FOR YOURSELF!
