How Many People Actually Believe The World Is Gonna End In 2012?

I don’t really believe who cares what the Mayans think they are ancient and their astrology isn’t as good as the astrology today…
I just want a few peoples opinion on this…
So who think the world is really gonna end in 2012?

    No. Actually, the Mayan prophecy predicted the and of an era; not the end of the world. Their 2012 prediction serves as nothing but a diversion and deception in these last days.
    According to the BIBLE,
    the world will be completely destroyed by fire in 2011.
    “The Lord has opened up His people’s understanding to the
    “Biblical calendar” found on the pages of the Bible.
    The genealogies of the book of Genesis, primarily in
    chapters 5 and 11, can be shown to be a precise calendar
    of the history of mankind in this world. The Bible’s calendar
    of history is completely accurate and trustworthy.
    Since this Bible calendar is given by God in His Word,
    it can be trusted wholeheartedly.”
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    TIMING OF IMPORTANT EVENTS IN HISTORY
    11,013 BC—Creation.
    God created the world and man (Adam and Eve).
    4990 BC—THE FLOOD OF NOAH’S DAY
    (6023 years from creation). All perished in a worldwide flood.
    Only Noah, his wife, and his 3 sons and their wives survived in the ark.
    7 BC—The year Jesus Christ was born
    (11,006 years from creation).
    33 AD—The year Jesus Christ was crucified
    and the church age began (11,045 years from creation).
    1988 AD—The 13,000th year of earth’s history.
    This year ended the church age and began the
    great tribulation period of 23 years (8400 days).
    1994 AD—On September 7th, the first 2300-day period
    of the great tribulation came to an end and the latter rain
    began (commencing God’s plan to save a great multitude
    of people outside of the churches).
    2011 AD—ON MAY 21st, THE RAPTURE WILL OCCUR
    at the end of the 8400-day great tribulation.
    On OCTOBER 21st, THE WORLD WILL BE DESTROYED BY FIRE.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The great flood of Noah’s time occurred in 4990BC
    “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
    WHEREBY THE WORLD THAT THEN WAS, BEING OVERFLOWED WITH WATER, PERISHED: BUT THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH, WHICH ARE NOW, BY THE SAME WORD ARE KEPT IN STORE, RESERVED UNTO FIRE AGAINST THE DAY OF JUDGMENT AND PERDITION OF UNGODLY MEN.
    But, beloved, BE NOT IGNORANT OF THIS ONE THING,
    THAT ONE DAY IS WITH THE LORD AS A THOUSAND YEARS, AND A THOUSAND YEARS AS ONE DAY.
    -2 Peter 3:3-8
    “And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house
    into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by
    sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not
    clean by two, the male and his female. Of fowls also of the air
    by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon
    the face of all the earth. FOR YET SEVEN DAYS, and I will
    cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and
    every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off
    the face of the earth.”
    -Genesis 7:1-4
    GOD GAVE NOAH A 7-DAY WARNING!
    4990 + 2011 = 7001 (-1; NO YEAR ZERO) = 7000 YEARS
    GOD SHUT THE DOOR OF THE ARK ON THE
    SEVENTEENTH DAY OF THE SECOND MONTH.
    “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, IN THE SECOND MONTH, THE SEVENTEENTH DAY OF THE MONTH, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.”
    -Genesis 7:11
    MAY 21, 2011 WILL BE EXACTLY 7000 YEARS FROM THE DAY OF THE FLOOD.
    IT WILL ALSO THE THE 17TH DAY OF THE SECOND MONTH ON THE JEWISH CALENDAR!
    “And as it was in the days of Noe,
    so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. ”
    -Luke 17:26
    “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up,
    and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. ”

    A lot, but there is no scientific basis for believing this. I repeat, there is no scientific basis for this. A lot of people who believe in the 2012 don’t believe the world is going to end, but a new age belief that we will finally grow into a better race. If you believe God is somehow going to end the world, then I suggest you look at your bible, particularly at the scripture in Ecclesiastes 1:4.

  3. rhodeswa

    So many events have to happen before the world comes to an end that I can’t imagine all of them happening by 2012.
    The absolute thing that has to happen before the end is the Antichrist will set up an abomination in the Temple of the LORD in Jerusalem which is where the Muslim’s Al-Aqsa Mosque sits now.
    I do not believe in any ‘predictions’ outside of the prophecies of the LORD, so I have to say No I am not one of those people that actually believe the world is ending in 2012.
    I guess it boils down to either we believe the Messiah when He said no one knows the hour of His return – which will bring on the end of the world as we know it now . . .
    Or
    Believe the Mayan Indians and their calendar.
    Be Blessed:-)

    Prophets are just like you and me we are human, we make mistakes this is what makes us human. Mayans have a calender that has an ending date that goes no further. There are readings on the mayans that record signifigant events in our time line. But ancient china, notradomas, the bible have all warned about an end to the world and have added events to our time line.
    Seriously is it worth worrying about?
    If it happens in our time line there will be nothing you can do about these events. You may survive or die. If you think that the world will end in the year of 2012. According to a something etched in a piece of stone is a bit far fetched in my opinion. Just because a past native mayan culture obessed with time keeping says the world is ending in the winter of 2012 is undermining to me. Honestly no matter what kind of scientific evidence or knowledge is written or told. Even notrodamas has had his predictions not happen.
    But then again I personaly believe things in this world have not become so bad in events, socially, politicaly, religiously, everything combined. For these things to happen.
    Remember humans made predictions and humans just as you and I are not perfect even in knowledge not matter how smart.

  5. 12,212,012 people think the world will end on December 21, 2012.
    It’s all superstition and it’s nowhere close to be a first time someone has tried to predict the end of the world and just to fall flat on their face.
    It is quiet possible the Mayans didn’t feel like extending their calendar pas that day. Maybe they just figured that they would cross that bridge when they came to it. To my knowledge, the Mayans never said the earth would end on that day, it is just based on speculation and manipulation from those that are seeking the end date.

  6. Matt B

    If you believe everything you see on history and discovery channel then No we have another billion or so years to poof.
    If you believe like me that science and history however wonderful they are, can sometimes be wrong then the probability is the same as any day being the end.
    If you believe the the ropes on a calendar put there by a group of people that disappeared off the face of the planet. then Yes.
    The ropes that the people left could have been something like “2012 that is like 4000 years out do we really need to continue?”

  7. The world will not end on 12-21-2012, at least not according to the Maya, who knew about as much about our planet’s future demise as Gordon-Michael Scallion, St. Malachy, Edgar Cayce, Zecharia Sitchin, Nostradamus, or the 7th Day Adventists of 1843, namely, nothing.
    The Maya had several calendars. One is known as the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. Obviously, this calendar is of no interest to the Maya any longer, since their civilization collapsed over a thousand years ago. (Though there are people today who are the descendants of the Maya and the culture lives on through them.)
    This date is of interest only to certain doomsday prophets and New Agers. What the New Agers fail to tell you is that the alignment of celestial bodies occurs routinely

  8. I don’t know in which point the Maya refer this; could you please indicate it to me? Anyway, I don’t believe on, not because they are an ancient civilization, but because if their predictions were so exciting and correct, why they disappeared?
    Haven’t they predict also that?
    On the other hand, maybe we can finish it before this year, you see humans are very quick to destroy the environment! lol!

  9. katerina c

    The same amount of people who believed it would end, when the comet came, or when climate changed, or all those who interpret the bible stories as being prophetic, or all those who believe Nostradamus. It’s easier for some people to hope we’ll all die at the same time, as it’s scary to think you will die alone, while the rest go on living. If we all die, we all share the same fear, go to the same place after death, at the same time. What could be more comforting than that. If you look, these people look anywhere to find a reason for the mass destruction of human existence. It’s in their nature to fear going into the unknown , knowing the rest will continue enjoying the fruits of life. They feel they will no longer matter. It’s that way for anyone. We all fear death for the same reason, we don’t want to just stop existing to those we lived with, and face the unknown alone.

  10. mainah

    The end of the world? I doubt it.
    The end of the world as we know it? I don’t find it so unbelievable.
    I don’t expect all life to end or anything like that, but I can’t help but shake the feeling that something will happen on that day… I’m not very religious or anything, so I don’t expect the Apocalypse or anything like that, but something that will be in the history books of future generations.
    But, I could be wrong. All we can do is wait and see.

  11. .:;sweet mass insanity;:.

    This thinking is liner which does not exist. There is no beginning or end in the large scope of things, just the next step.
    EVERYTHING flows in cycles.
    All that 2012 is a cusp of a 24,000 year cycle know as the precession of the equinox. The Mayans had a clear understanding of this.
    History has shown that there is a correlation between events on earth and the movement of the stars, because everything is connected.

  12. ago d

    The Mayan Calendar makes NO doomsday CLAIMS because 2012 is merely the end of a cycle. We are currently approaching the end of the 4th Mayan cycle. That means that Doomsday has happened THREE times before. For the ancient Maya it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle. To render December 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting is a complete fabrication- and a chance for a lot of people to cash in.
    People who promote 2012 are doing so to sell books and advertising on their doomsday shows. After each “predicted” doomsday passes with nothing happening there is a new one invented. I have watched the 2012 Doomsday program on the History (Hysteria) Channel. The content isn’t about any real 2012 event happening and it isn’t about history. It is about selling books and selling advertising on the TV programs.
    There is no scientific theory that anything unusual is going to happen in 2012. ZERO scientists believe that anything out of the ordinary will happen in 2012. It is all total CRAP. These people are interested in one thing – MONEY. And by listening to their programs and/or buying their books you provide them with – MONEY. The more MONEY they make the more twists and turns they invent to make it more interesting so you will listen to new TV programs so they can make even MORE MONEY.
    If you had hogwash to sell wouldn’t you try and package it so looked like prime rib? That is just what these shysters are doing… selling to those who will listen – HOGWASH. Drink deep!!! They need MORE MONEY. They need YOUR MONEY.
    By the way… 2012 isn’t the first Doomsday prediction. Here is a link to other Doomsday predictions from the past and present…
    Here: http://www.abhota.info/end6.htm
    THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF DOOMSDAY PREDICTIONS… and none have come true.

  13. David D

    The people making up the wild and crazy claims about “doomsday” in 2012 are grifters and liars. Some want your money (BUY MY BOOK!) and some just want notoriety. The claims themselves are nonsense. It is INSULTING to anyone with even a High School education in science that these people are allowed to espouse and print such ridiculous lies.
    If I claimed that tomorrow the Sun would turn pink and bunnies would take over the world, you might suggest that I seek psychological help, yet when someone like Patrick Geryl says that “streams of positive ions will push the South Pole over making the Earth flip” like a pancake… or a crepe (he IS Belgian), you hardly EVER hear anyone say “Is he forgetting to take his meds?” It is just silly!
    So often in Y!A we hear people say “scientists say…” or “look at the evidence that civilizations collapse every 3600 years” when NOT ONE of these people have ever even taken a science class. That much is obvious. Please disregard any such statements and only treat claims with some citations as at all likely. For example there is a nice NASA site in astrobiology which debunks nearly ALL the 2012 claims very neatly… and don’t forget Penn & Teller! They show, with a healthy dollop of humor, just how laughable all the hoaxers are…. I LOVED the guy with the styrofoam balls on the strings!
    Don’t worry about 2012. Worry about your kids growing up to be sociopaths or not growing up at all simply because you forget to buckle them in your car. Worry about the government selling mining rights to big oil companies that want to drill for Natural Gas within a mile of old atomic bomb tests. (If you live in Colorado… switch to electric stoves)
    There is plenty of real things to scare you in this world, you don’t have to make anything scary up.

  14. Faesson

    Anyone who believes that will never know, because they’re probably going to die being a suicide bomber before then, or think that it will be so slow and agonizing that they will become a suicide bomber anyway. And the reason no one’s going to answer this question and say “I do!!!!” is because it reminds them that it will end, and become a suicide bomber before they can finish their answer. It will end whenever God wants it to end, and some of will go to Heaven and some of us will go to Hell. But for more details, there will be an Antichrist, who opposes Christ (as the name says) and be sort of like Hitler, in control of the world. There will be a seven year period between all the Christians going to Heaven and the world ending. If you’re not a Christian in that period, you’re free to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and go to Heaven!! But the Antichrist will probably be persecuting any new Christians so it will be hard. But God gives us a chance to go to Heaven in that period, so anyway I don’t know when the world will end, but I’ll be ready. I mean it COULD end it 2012, but that don’t mean I’ll be a suicide bomber………

  15. Anynomou

    Not me. Why would you care what people believe? All that matters is what can be proven. Scientists know it is a bunch of garbage, totally devoid of any scientific validity, and dreamed up by hoaxers and flakes without even a rudimentary knowledge of science. The people making these claims have their degrees in Art and Literature (those who even have degrees). One of the main offenders is a woman who thinks she is getting mental messages from aliens from Zeta Reticuli. She claims the “Zetas” gave her a sign to move to another state because she asked for a sign and then found an unwrapped Starburst candy in a package of them (candies, not aliens). She first predicted that Zecharia Sitchen’s imaginary planet was going to return in 2003. Undaunted when it failed to show, she simply changed the date to 2012 to agree with Jose Arguelles’ misinterpretation of the Mayan calendar. Should you listen to her or to scientists? Hmmm……tough decision …..scientists….wackos….scientists

  16. Bella

    We should be enjoying movies like “Armageddon” (1998).
    NASA tracks comets and asteroids that break apart and head towards planet Earth, but there’s no way to detect some that evade radar/satellite detection before it’s too late to do anything but try to destroy it with nuclear weapons.
    The Bible suggests that December 2012 marks the Revelation, so drink lowfat organic soymilk and watch “Armageddon” (1998).

  17. abishai1

    What do you mean their astrology isn’t as good as today??…they were time keepers and they made sure their job was completed before they went into the galactic night. As for 12/21/2012 that’s the date of the cosmic party. If you don’t prepare and open your charka’s you won’t be invited. http://handclow2012.com/

  18. catlady

    I have not met one person who really believed this yet.
    These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.
    Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.
    Here is also what NASA thinks about the 2012 End of the World scenario: http://pwg.gsfc.nasa.gov/stargaze/StarFA…
    If you want a bit more information on the 2012 hoax, try: http://2012hoax.org
    “But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.” (Mark 13:32-33)
    Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.
    The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.
    The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus’ advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.
    Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.
    For more information, about what Catholics believe about the end of the world, see: http://www.americancatholic.org/Newslett…
    With love in Christ.

  19. imacatho

    I don’t and here is a good scientific explanation as to what science is saying about it. According to this we are already going through changes and it’s just a cycle that the earth has gone through before. Things could get a little hairy according to this but not the end of the world. Read this it’s really interesting I just found it last night. http://dripdown.com/2012/

  20. kari

    UNBELIEVER! Really though…idk…Why not?
    well, the Mayan calender ends in 2012, and 12-12-2012 is another thing, cuz we cant do 13-13-2013 cuz there are only 12 months, so the same number for the date ends december 12 2012, its confusing. and…well…idk scientists seem pretty certain itll happen. Maybe the world wont end, butitll end as we know it. Maybe a dictator will rise to power and change everything. Maybe zombies or aliens will attack.Maybe Jesus will return… I guess we’ll see….

  21. Sydnei

    I think it’s all just a big scare. Kind of like how the bird flu was going to wipe out all of China or something like that.
    And besides, for all we know, the Mayans ran out of room on their calendar or died before finishing it. There’s one too many variables in this stupid equation.

  22. H.N. Jonas

    too many people.do you realize the amount of 2012 questions on here?!there’s LOADS!!!did y2k happen?noooooooooo!did the whole planet x 2003 thing happen?noooooooooooooooooo?is there a chance of 2012 happening?mos likely,you guessed it,nooooooooooooooo.long story short,i dont think we have anything to worry about.

  23. ilovemus

    i don’t know maybe .It sounds scary all of the things that are going to happen go on to wikipedia but i think it could also just be the end of a new era

  24. Griffondor Pheonix

    Just think in 2012 all those people that believe the worlds gonna end, some will cause riots and shoplifting etc…. If it is the end what can we do? So im not bothered, one way or the other x

  25. I dont, infact I got a hug blog about how its a hoax with lots of real facts. I put alot of time into, feel free to peep it

  26. Holy crap it will?!
    LOL, JK. I don’t think so but if it does I’m gonna live my life until then. I’m gonna de one day anyway.

  27. Y-Mail-Yuh? φ

    I doubt it, the world seems in good shape (geographically speaking) it has to last longer then that.

  28. Nicole

    You all or fools… You all will die fools…

  29. Itachi

    Well in my opinion, I do not think the world will end in 2012. There is just not enough evidence to convince me.

  30. Balraj

    I know I don’t. But way too many do believe.

  31. Alien

    I don’t know how this is not in History, and what it is so philosophical about it..
