How Many Of You Think The 2012 Apocalypse Will Occur?
As for me,
I think that December 21, 2012 sounds like a very scary date.
People “say” that they’re already taking precautions for this deadly date.
The 5,000 year long Mayan calendar comes to an end on 12.21.12.
But do you think the world will really come to an end?

actually, the calendar is only 5000 years old if you squint a lot.
the Mayans developed their calendar and just fudged in most of it, which was a good thing for them as shortly thereafter, their whole civilization collapsed, back about the 8th or 9th centuries AD.
Was it a good calendar? Sure.
Did it predict the end of the world? No. Not even a little bit.
Why are so many people convinced it did?
Basically, a nutter named Jose Arguelles (the one that thinks he is a reincarnated Spanish Priest from the 15th century… AND the one that tried to sue the UN… yeah, him) wrote about how the Mayan calendar “ended” in 2012 and how we were all gonna die! Well, all the rest of the Mayan scholars disagreed but here we are… proving that people will believe almost anything!
What is up with this question now in the Polls and Surveys? First, it started in Astronomy and space, now it’s spreading like a virus in entertainment and music section. Come back from fantasy and live in reality, for goodness sake.
No..because the Mayans did not predict anything to happen in 2012. Just because the calendar ends in 2012, doesn’t mean the world will end. It just simply states that it resets. The Mayans were expert astronomers, not expert Psychics.
Besides..the polar shift 2012 crap is not happening. It takes years for a polar shift to occur anyways.
I think I need to research more on the 2012 apocalypse should that happen for real, whether it’s going to be a nuclear war or a series of natural disasters caused by the shifting of the North and South Poles. Or perhaps both of these things. Let’s hope civilization will continue to exist after what everyone thinks is a “doomsday” date.
I don’t really know what’s going to happen, but I am not taking any chances. LOL Here is a link to a site that has some information.

crop circles tell us what will happen in 2012http://d.hatena.ne.jp/butabaevr/20081223…

No.
I heard that an electric space storm will happen though sometime that year, a pretty big one too that will cut out all power on Earth for a few hours. Last one was in the 50’s I think.
nahh… wasn’t it suppose to happen 6.6.06 but it didn’t
and who cares about an old calender….just because it ends then doesn’t mean ****…they probably thought the world would be gone by yr 2000
I don’t think it willl
But the world could end in a week,
i think no will ever know when the world will end
so……….stop worrying over it
Yeah, we should be scared because the Mayans were too lazy to keep the calender going.
If you wanna know what the real story behind this date is go here http://www.2012returnofnibiru.com
i dont think the worlds gonna end in 2012.
people said the saaame thing for 2009.
are we dead?
er. no.
so lalala di da dooo.
Only GOD knows
i think i read somewhere that there is no proof it means 2012, it might mean 1912 or 2212 etc.
the mayans don’t know ****.
No
No.
YAWN. What’s new?
and no
don’t look at me
uh, no
same crap as the Y2K, so no.
nope.
Well, I don’t ;DDDd
Not I
Not Me.
But We’ll Just Have To See.
If It Doesn’t I’m Gonna Laugh.
I don’t believe that it will. But i guess we’ll find out …
Not me. Scientists have NOT predicted any catastrophic events for 2012. The doomsday “prediction” nonsense is all the work of hoaxers with something to sell.
The Mayans didn’t predict it and their calendar doesn’t end. It is just the end of this cycle and the start of a new one.
Nostradamus didn’t predict it. He never mentioned 2012.
Mother Shipton didn’t predict it.
The Bible never mentions 2012 or any specific time.
Nibiru was reinvented by Zecharia Sitchen from old Sumerian references to Jupiter. He didn’t say it would return in 2012. He said it would return in 2085. The supposed Nibiru collision was dreamed up in 1995 by Nancy Lieder, who claims to channel messages from extra-terrestrials from the Zeta Reticuli star system.
Mark Hazlewood, who has no scientific background, wrote “Blindsided, Planet X Passes in 2003, Earth Changes!” His claims about Planet X based are based on his interpretations of Sitchin’s nonsense. Sitchen’s degree is in Literature. He has no science credentials.
Then we have Jose Arguelles, who has a degree in Art and Aesthetics. He thinks he is the reincarnation of a Mayan priest and announced to the UN and the Vatican that the world was required to convert to the Mayan calendar or be declared “Enemies of the Biosphere.” Hmmm.
I believe his catastrophe was originally to take place in 1995. Do we really want to take the word of people like this instead of scientists?
Planet X was a name that was used by astronomers when looking for an unknown planet. The doomsday hoaxers decided to use it as a real planet and predicted that it was to hit Earth in 2003. When it didn’t show up, they moved it out to 2012 to tie it in with the end of this cycle of the Mayan calendar.
The Sun isn’t going to be aligned with the center of the galaxy.
The “planetary alignment” is only the way they appear in our view of the sky, not a real alignment.
Polar reversals don’t happen suddenly. They take around 5,000 years, with estimates ranging from 1,000 years to 8,000 years.
The next Solar maximum (which happens in an 11 year cycle) is now expected to occur in 2013. It isn’t expected to be any worse than the many previous ones. The effects of solar flares are mainly on communications and radio transmissions.
As for web bots predicting it, Web bots crawl the web to catch new and existing web sites and detect relevant keywords. With all the garbage about 2012 on the internet, what else would you expect it to say? Remember the old computer adage: garbage in, garbage out.
