Lets see, you have thousands of people from all around the world coming to your country for a few weeks to watch an international sporting competition. They don’t just watch the games, they also spend money on food, groceries, hotels, souvenirs, clothing, etc.
Before the games, the organizing committee builds new venues for Olympic use. Those venues such as new stadiums do not get demolished after the events, they are used for the public – which also brings more money in.
